Padded Dice Holder?

New postby CCotD » Thu Nov 05, 2009 3:54 am

I've been looking at the pictures, trying to compare the features to the pics and I do not see the padded dice holder. Can you point out to me where that would be located? (It is one of my sticking points on purchasing a pre-made gaming table, having a place to roll/store dice without taking up the table or the place where the character/information sheets are stored).

Thanks.

Yes we have a padded dice holder. You can't see it in the pics on the front page because we didn't have it built into the table displayed as it was our first table.
We do have some pictures that we are posting in a couple of weeks that show the dice tray.
Although if you look at the products (http://www.montyhaul.com/products.html) page you can see the dice tray on each tray.

Each dice tray has felt material lining the inside.
Each pull put table has a dice tray located at the top of the pull out table.
We created the pull out large enough to accommodate a open reference manual and a character sheet without covering the dice tray.

Thank you for the reply. But the dice tray looks like an elongated "dip". Is that just for storing dice or for both storage and rolling?

It's a recess into the pullout 13mm deep, I'll post the exact dimensions for you shortly.
It's used for rolling the dice, we found by padding the dice tray we cut down on dice bouncing but allowed the dice to roll freely.
This basically allows you to roll dice in a smaller area, we did quite a bit of play testing and found that there's plenty of room.

Saying that if you do need more room the pull out tray's are large enough that you could have an open book and still have abotu a 1/3 of the area
of the tray available for rolling dice if you were so inclined. you could even purchase $5 worth of stick on felt from any craft store if you wanted to pad some of that area.

But from our testing we have found most players are happy using the dice tray.

Thank you for the information.

I play lots of different games and I have yet to find any gaming table that will hold the 30+ d6's that Warhammer 40k or Warhammer Fantasy sometimes require for rolls.

Just curious when you state that you play tested the dice roller, how many dice and what size dice. Due to my age, I use larger D6's (normal gambling ie casino dice). How many of that type of d6's will it allow for decent rolling?

Thank you for your patience with all of my questions.

No problems I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. And we are always happy to receive suggestions.
For example we resized our entire range to be modular for war gamers from the feedback we got from people and the table is better for it.

30 D6's is a fair amount. We normally play with smaller amounts around 12-15 dice.
So you might be looking for larger rolling surface which you can still do via our table.

We had a game last week where some people were using the dice tray to roll their dice.
Others were storing their dice in the tray and rolling on the pull out itself.
While others just rolled on the table, guess you almost have to sit down at the table and see what's most comfortable for you.

At the end of the day you have much more room then what you do on a regular table, so there should be no issues finding a place to roll your dice.

I thought you might find this interesting, I posted a vid of 30 dice being rolled at once in one of the dice trays.
We left some dice in the tray as often you'll want to keep some from another roll/pool.

By the way there's some more movies in the Gallery section of the forums.
